vancouver christmas market

No, I'm not in Bavaria, and this is not Germany. This, my friends, is the German-inspired Vancouver Christmas Market held at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza, right in the heart of downtown Vancouver!

Back in Vancouver for its third year, the Christmas Market is bringing the old European tradition into the New World, featuring seasonal arts and crafts and traditional food and drink, as well as a little bit of entertainment depending on the time of day.
The market is certainly a feast for the eyes, especially when you're looking for ornaments, decorations, and unique gift ideas this holiday season. Kitschy Bavarian beer steins, anyone?
It's also a feast for the mouth, with little vending cabins offering up the usual suspects of sausages, schnitzels, waffles, farm cheeses, baked apples, apple cider, and glühwein (mulled wine)...plus other baked goodies packaged up as treats to give away as presents or to savour at home, whichever you choose.
The Vancouver Christmas Market is still a very new concept for many Vancouverites in general, so not a lot of people know of its existence yet, but it definitely has the potential to grow into something much bigger with each passing year. For now though, it's still a small-scale affair, but worth checking out if you're in the downtown area!
